The 21st International Exhibition of Electronic, Computer and E-Commerce (ELECOMP) began on Dec. 14 at Tehran’s International Fairground with the participation of 520 domestic and international companies.

The four-day event is considered as the the most important commercial event in Iran’s electronics, computer products and services markets. It provides an opportunity for electronic companies to introduce their latest achievements in software and hardware sectors, the English-language paper Iran Daily reported.

Iran’s Computer Trade Union has also provided free space for new technological businesses in line with its commitment to promote the entrepreneurship culture according to Iran’s national framework.

“The event provides a unique opportunity for activists in this sector to negotiate new potential business and technological ties to boost their business and increase their share in this ever-growing market,” the event’s website iran-elecomp.com wrote.

Some 40 state-run companies and organizations are taking part in the event in an area of 2,500 square meters to display the government’s electronic services and achievements.

The opening ceremony was attended by Abolhassan Firouzabadi, the head of Iran’s Computer Trade Union, and Nasrollah Jahangard, the deputy minister of communications and information technology and the head of Iran Information Technology Organization.

The exhibition will run until December 17.
