Barcelona Chamber of Commerce is ready for expansion of economic cooperation with Iran, especially Fars province, said head of the entity’s International Relations Department, Joseph Maria Gomez.

In a meeting with the head of Fars province Industry, Mines and Trade Department, Ali Hemmati, he referred to his visits to industrial units of Fars Special Economic Zone, industrial townships and the global heritage of Persepolis, saying that Fars province has numerous commonalities with Barcelona and there are a lot of areas for cooperation.

Hemmati, for his part said that grounds are prepared for the Spanish companies to invest in the solar energy sector in Iran, including Fars province.

He further noted that investment in joint brand and package technology and joint market of Iranian and Spanish companies in Fars province will pave the way for boosting of bilateral economic and commercial ties.

Referring to Fars province’s capacities in industrial, mineral and agricultural fields, he said that the province is prepared to meet the needs of Spain for pistachio, nuts, saffron, pomegranate and fig.

Hemmati further noted that Fars province despite its suitable capacities, needs to modernizie its technology and machinery.
Port of Barcelona, the second-most populated city in Spain, is considered among the most significant ports in the Mediterranean Sea.
