Navy Commander Rear-Admiral Habibollah Sayyari said on Saturday that Navy guarantees maritime security and economy security for merchant ships in line with the International Law of Sea.

He said that the Navy of the Islamic Republic of Iran is present in the international seas serving safety of sea transportation from pirates.
Iranian Navy has bright record of campaign against sea piracy in the high seas and hot persuance against the ships Iranian Navy suspected to be perpetrating wrongful acts in the free seas.
The Rear-Admiral made the remarks at late Imam Khomeini mausoleum on the occasion of National Navy Day.
On November 28, 1981 PT boat ‘Paykan’ destroyed Iraqi oil terminals of ‘al-Bakr’ and ‘al – Omayah’ solely and created epic for Iranian sailors.
