Iran’s Ambassador to Poland underlined the importance of trade transactions with Iran for Europe as the country acts as a bridge to Asia.

‘Iran being located in the west to east and north to south corridor is a great advantage for the European countries, including Poland, for trade transactions with the Asian countries,’ Ramin Mehmanparast said in a meeting with Polish Marine Economy Minisgtger Mark Grobarchik in Warsaw on Thursday.

The Polish minister, for his part, voiced his country’s readiness to invite Iran’s roads and urban development minister to visit Poland in a bid to start talks on mutual cooperation.

In a relevant development last November, Head of Iran’s Chamber of Commerce Mohsen Jalalpour in a meeting with the visiting Polish delegation led by Economy Minister Janusz Piechocinski said that Iran and Poland planned to establish joint trade commission and firms.

Referring to 1,500 polish companies who are waiting to enter Iran one after another in the near future to bolster ties and guarantee their share in Iran’s market, Jalalpour said that ‘Iran-Poland Joint Economic Commission, which is set to be formed by this yearend, seeks to mount bilateral trade turnover, and ease journeys made by trade delegations between the two countries’.

He also added that founding joint firms, specifically agricultural ones, can set the ground for both sides to have access to European and Middle eastern markets and export the manufactured products to them.

The Iranian official addressed the issue of exporting gas to Poland, and said that Iran seeks to exports gas to the country via the shortest path.

Jalalpour named auto industry, oil and gas, agricultural equipment, and knowledge-based activities as the common fields for cooperation between Tehran and Warsaw.

Piechocinski, leading a high-level trade delegation including railway manufacturers Newag and Pesa, arrived in Tehran on Friday night.
