German investors are planning to establish a solar power plant in Kerman and have chosen two sites for the purpose.
A member of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture, Ali Shams Ardakani said during a meeting between German investing delegation and Kerman governor general that the team is engaged in creating solar and wind power plants and that it has earlier undertaken such projects in Germany and China.

Three small-sized power plants will be constructed in the cities of Mahan and Rine, suburbs of Kerman, while establishment of a big power plant with a capacity of 1,000 megawatts is under consideration, he said.

Based on the final decision, the German side will provide for 48 percent of the cash contribution and also ensure forex finance, he said, hoping that the Mahan project will kick off in the first week of February.

During the meeting, a memorandum of cooperation for building four 10-megawatt power plants in Kerman province was signed by the province’s governor general and the German delegation

Given most sunny days over the year and blowing winds in certain areas across Kerman province, it has the potential to launch solar and wind power plants.
