Indian Ambassador to Iran Saurabh kumar said on Wednesday that post-sanctions era is an unparalleled opportunity for promoting Iran-India ties.

Talking to IRNA on the sidelines of India-Iran Friendship Association, he called on Tehran and New Delhi to take practical step in line with further development of relations.
Iran-India Friendship Association was held in New Delhi on January 6 with Iran’s Miniser of Finance and Economic Affairs Ali Tayyebnia and Iranian and India political and economic officials as well as the two countries’ businessmen in attendance.
Kumar further noted that Iran and India can upgrade their economic, commercial and cultural cooperation speedily, given new international situation and their numerous capacities.
Iran and India have had excellent ties in times of sanctions and that lifting the sanctions will pave the way for further cooperation, he said.
Indian senior diplomat also listed energy, railway, communications and information technology as among the suitable areas for promoting cooperation, saying that Iran and India enjoy good capacities and capabilities in the fields of transportation, energy and communications.
Pointing to the two countries’ commercial capacities, he said that Iran and India boast of good facilities for importing and exporting commodities, the Indian envoy said that Iran’s 80-million market is of high significance for India.
Kumar described Iranian finance minister’s visit to New Delhi as important, saying that it will certainly help step up bilateral relations.
Tehran and New Delhi have always had excellent ties which have the potentials for further economic cooperation, he said
Tayyebnia arrived in New Delhi on December 25 to attend Iran-India Economic Commission.
