Iran will take part in International Tourism Fair of Spain (FITUR) in Madrid scheduled for January 20-24, 2016, said Ali-Baqer Nemati, the head of Iran’s Marketing and Tourism Promotion Bureau.

“Twenty Iranian agencies will attend the event, which provides them the opportunity to introduce Iran’s tourism potentials to the world,” he told English newpaper Iran Daily.

He added that visitors to Iranian pavilion would also be able to take part in panel discussions and receive information about Iran’s culture and tourism.

“Iran’s pavilion will put up a traditional teahouse and a handicraft workshop. Visitors will be served Iranian sweets and beverages and get to know about carpet weaving, for example,” he said.

Nemati said visitors to Iran’s pavilion can take part in a contest and receive prizes.

“A music band will give live performance, playing traditional Iranian music, at the pavilion,” he said.

Mohammad Mohammadi, one of the organizers of Iran’s pavilion, said the exhibition can help boost Iran-Spain ties as well as draw the attention of international investors to Iran’s tourism potentials.

“Iran — with plenty of natural and historical wonders — is an ideal destination for investors,” he said.

Spain Minister of Industry, Energy and Tourism José Manuel Soria, said during his visit to Iran last September that tourism plays one of the greatest roles in developing Iran’s economy.

He called for expansion of tourism ties between the two nations.
