Deputy Foreign Minister for Euro-American Affairs Majid Takht-Ravanchi and Minister of Foreign Trade for Ecuador Diego Aulestia Valencia on Wednesday called for further expansion of bilateral cooperation after lifting of the “unjust” sanctions against Iran.

“Formerly, the trade was possible through a third party, making it costlier; however, after removal of the sanctions, ground can be prepared for expansion of ties in all fields,’ said the Iranian diplomat.

He hoped that the next meeting of the joint commission of Iran and Ecuador would be held in Iran in the near future during a visit to Tehran by the Ecuadorian minister. Takht-Ravanchi said the meeting could lead to expansion of bilateral relations and cooperation in all fields.

Meanwhile, Valencia, for his part, hoped for the removal of impediments on the way of Tehran-Quito direct trade.

“I believe a bright prospect is ahead of mutual ties and we can make plans for presence of the Iranian and Ecuadorian traders in the field of trade in the two countries,” he said.
