Iran’s Consul General in Trabzon, Turkey, Reza Baghban-Kondori said that Iran’s Maku City, benefitting from being the region’s largest free trade and industrial zone, can become the gateway to foreign capital’s entry into Iran.

The Iranian diplomat made the comments during a one-day visit of the Maku Free Zone (MFZ) during which he visited some infrastructure development projects of the zone.
He said that Maku enjoys a unique status for absorbing international investors, especially from Turkey and Europe.
In a meeting with MFZ managers, Baghban-Kondori said that absorbing foreign capital is essential for the zone’s economic progress and further development.
He said that opening the gates to foreign investment will also lead to creation of new job opportunities and Iran’s exports to the countries of the investors who come to Iran.
