OPEC Secretary General Abdullah Salem al-Badri is to visit Tehran to take part in the Third Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) summit meeting.

Secretary General of the International Energy Forum (IEF) Aldo Flores-Quiroga is also scheduled to arrive in Tehran for the upcoming event.

The 17th Ministerial Meeting of GECF and extraordinary ministerial meetings will be held on Saturday (November 21) while the Third Summit of GECF is to be organized on November 23.

Presence of seven presidents and one prime minister in the event has so far been confirmed. Turkmenistan president will attend the summit as special guest.

Member countries of the Forum are Algeria, Bolivia, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Iran, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago, United Arab Emirates and Venezuela. Iraq, Kazakhstan, the Netherlands, Norway, Oman and Peru are the Observer Members.

GECF members account for 67 percent of world’s gas reserves, 42 percent of gas production and 38 percent of pipeline transmission and 85 percent of LNG trade in the world.

The GECF is a gathering of the world’s leading gas producers that provides a framework for exchange of experience, views, information and data, as well as coordination in gas related developments among member countries.
