In an interview with IRNA, Masood Khan said that some reports in media on possible negative impacts of Chabahar agreement on Gwadar Port or Iran-Pakistan relations are just speculations and propaganda and have nothing to do with Pakistan’s official position on this trilateral agreement.

“About the Chabahar port agreement between Iran, India and Afghanistan, there is no concern at the level of the state of Pakistan or the government of Pakistan but there are concerns being expressed by the media,” said Masood Khan.

The official went on to say that Iranian government and the Pakistani government are confident that they would be able to strengthen the relations between the two countries and this agreement on Chabahar would not affect the trajectory of Iran-Pakistan relations.

“In this area, we need to develop even more ports. Gwadar is not the last port or even for that matter Chabahar is not the last port and we need more regional connectivity,” viewed the official.

The expert strongly believed that Iran and Pakistan should come closer. “You would recall when Iranian visitors came here and met our leadership both sides said they want to see Chabahar and Gwadar as sister ports,” noted Masood Khan.
