Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Valiollah Afkhamirad said that Iran and Switzerland had good cooperation over past years, and added that for developing bilateral ties it is necessary to lift trade obstacles.

According to the report of Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPO), Afkhamirad made the remarks in a meeting with head of bilateral economic relations and Representative of Swiss Federal Council in trade contracts affairs (SECO) Ms. Livia Leu Agosti accompanying Swiss Ambassador to Tehran Julio Haus.

He said that Switzerland position in Iran’s trade program is important, and added that Iran is ready to do necessary planning for Switzerland trade delegation to have a positive and constructive visit.

Agosti and accompanying delegation also called expansion of trade and economic ties between the two countries necessary and negotiated about necessary planning for Switzerland’s high ranking delegation, which is due to visit Tehran in February 2016.

Agosti was already the first European Ambassador to Iran and after her diplomatic tenure is still trying on consolidation of bilateral ties between the two countries.

Iran-Switzerland trade volume level in the past years from 2011 to first four months of this year is more than 11.403 billion dollars.

During these years, Switzerland was among one of 10 trade partners of Iran and in year 2012 its exchange trade level was 3.452 billion dollars.
