Head of Iran-Iraq Economic Development Headquarters Rostam Ghassemi will leave for Erbil of Iraq on Wednesday to meet and confer with officials of Iraqi Kurdistan region.

Experts believe that the Iraqi Kurdistan region and Iran are to sign a contract for the first ever to launch joint energy cooperation.
Director General of the Department of Relations between Iran and Iraqi Kurdistan Region Abdullah Akrai told IRNA that the visit aims to continue talks between the Iraqi Kurdistan region and Iran to expand economic relations.
He said during his stay in Erbil, Ghassemi will meet and confer with Kurdish Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani.
Akrai said expansion of economic relations is of top priority and talks for expansion of relations in the oil and gas fields will be among axes of the talks between the two sides.
On likely agreements between the Iranian and Iraqi parties, he said though no agreement has yet been inked, the expert talks seek conclusion of mutual agreement and the two sides are hoped to reach an agreement.
Akrai said, ‘Relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran is of importance for us and the Prime Minister had during his recent visit to Iran underlined the importance once again.’
Over the past two years, the Iran-Iraq Economic Development Headquarters has taken important steps towards expansion of cooperation with Iraqi Kurdistan region and for the first ever the two sides are close to conclusion of oil and gas cooperation agreement.
