President of the Russian Oil Company ‘Lukoil’ Vagit Alekperov said that he discussed the returning of the company to Anaran oil field in western province of Ilam, Iran, with Oil Minister Bijan Zangeneh.

Alekperov told reporters that during his meetign with Zangeneh, they also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

Before imposing the unilateral sanctions by the European Union (EU) and the US against Iran, Lukoil with a consortium was conducting exploration activities in Anaran oil field, which led to discovery of Azar and Changoleh oil well.

Iran’s Oil Minister Bijan Zangeneh arrived in Vienna on Thursday morning to attend OPEC meeting.

Development of Changoleh oil field, which is shared with Iraq Badre oil field, was welcomed by foreign oil companies and so far three Russian big oil companies as well as a Croat one have offered their request to participate in this oil field.
