Iran and Finland have discussed ways to promote joint cooperation on transferring modern technical know-how in the petroleum industry.

‘Presently, an array of environmental projects have been conceived in the development of Iran’s petroleum industry and the Islamic Republic can use the expertise offered by the Finish companies in the post sanction era,’ said Deputy Petroleum Minister for International Affairs Hossein Zamani-Nia.

He made the remarks afte a meeting with Finland’s Minister of Foreign Trade and Development Lenita Toivakka Wednesday evening.

‘Finland is among leading countries in environmental issues concerning oil, natural gas, refining and petrochemical projects,’ Zamani-Nia said.

The deputy oil minister also referred to his ministry’s plans to optimize productivity in the energy sector, saying that Finland could cooperate with Iran in this field, too.

For her part, the Finish minister said that Helsinki was interested in establishing long-term cooperation with Iran.

‘The Finish companies are not merely after selling their equipments but they are looking for a long-term cooperation with Iran through transfer of new technologies,’ Toivakka said.

The large Finish trade delegation, led by Toivakka, has travelled to Iran to explore avernues of cooperation with Iran.

Iran’s value of imports from Finland stood at 44 million dollars in 2014, while its export to the Northern European nation was 311,000 dollars in the same period.
