An Italian economic delegation including 310 representatives of various companies, societies and banks headed by Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Graziano Delrio and Minister of Agriculture Maurizio Martina is to arrive in Tehran on Monday on a 3-day visit.
Following a 3-day visit of President Hassan Rouhani to Italy on January 25 and signing of several cooperation agreements between Tehran and Rome, the delegation is to visit Iran.
Delrio in an interview with AGI news agency on the eve of his visit to Tehran said that Iran’s strategic and geographical situation is an important gate to Afghanistan, Pakistan, Caucasus and all Central Asian states and Italy is also a gate to Europe in the Mediterranean area.
Delrio added that the visit is of great importance because following negotiations and signing of cooperation MoUs between the two countries, the time has come to take more steps in direction of cooperation between Iranian and Italian companies.
‘We have prepared a series of files concerning infrastructure sector where Iran intends to invest a lot.’
Iran wants to strengthen its infrastructures including constructio of 10,000 kilometers of railways and thousands of kilometers of highways, bridges and airports.
