South African President Jacob Zuma said on Sunday that South African government is willing to increase annual trade with Iran to eight billion dollars in matter of four years.
He made the remarks in a Conference on Iran-South Africa trade in the venue of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture.
President Zuma said that in year 2015 trade between the two countries stood at 350 million dollars.
He underlined that South Africa is looking at Iran as its strategic partner in the Middle East and Central Asian region.
President Zuma said that Iran has always been one of crude oil suppliers of South Africa, so the sanctions on Iran had negative effects on our economy.
The South African president arrived in Tehran on Sunday morning on the head of 180-member delegation.
This is the first visit of South African President to Iran in the past 37 years.
On Sunday morning, eight cooperation documents were signed between the two countries on economic cooperation.
