Governor of Central Bank of Iran (CBI) Valiollah Seif on Tuesday said that Tehran welcomes Lebanese banks opening branches in Iran.

Seif made the remarks during a meeting in Tehran with visiting Lebanese Minister of Finance Ali Hassan Khalil.

Lebanese banking system is fully stable and updated and the ground is prepared for further cooperation between Lebanese banks and Iranian banking system, Seif said.

Referring to high capacity of the private sector and skilled forces in Lebanon’s financial sector, Seif said that Iranian banks can make use of the capacity of international Lebanese banks.

He invited his Lebanese counterpart and other top managers of the country’s banking sector to attend an Iran-Lebanon joint conference due to be held within the next few months to discuss mutual cooperation and establishment of a joint banking committee.
