Deputy Energy Minister for Electricity and Energy Affairs Hoshang Falahatian said on Tuesday that exporting electricity to Sultanate of Oman is planned by the Ministry and it will be transmitted via undersea cable.
He told reporters that Iranian national grid has been connected to neighboring countries with common borders with Iran.
Falahatian said that energy exchange capacity between Iran and its neighbors is around 3,080 megawatts annually and Iran ranks first for exchanging electricity with its neighboring states.
The Dy Energy Minister reminded that primary studies to establish undersea cable between Iran and littoral states of the Persian Gulf have been done and the second phase of the studies will get underway.
He said that expenses for implementing the project will be by participation of Iran and other littoral states of the Persian Gulf.
Falahatian stressed that construction of undersea cable has high expense more than land or aerial grid.
He added that neighboring states owe Iran 1.400 billion dollars arears for exported electricity.
