Iran’s Minister of Agricultural Jihad Mahmoud Hojjati and the Netherlands’ Minister of Economic Affairs Henk Kamp on Tuesday signed a protocol for cooperation in the agriculture sector.

The document envisions cooperation in various agricultural domains, including expansion of greenhouse cultivation, raising water productivity, agricultural crop processing and market supply.
Speaking in the signing ceremony, Hojjati said, ‘We hope that in light of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), we will be able to upgrade Iran-Netherlands cooperation.’
He said regarding chronology of Iran-Netherlands relations, the two sides by inking the agricultural cooperation document will enhance scope of their cooperation and activities.
He went on to say that the Netherlands is a developed and industrial country, well informed of water and soil, especially dense greenhouse cultivation and production and export of flowers. ‘So, regarding the capacity, potential and limitations of our country, we are making serious efforts for development of greenhouse cultivation through mutual cooperation.’
He underlined that with regards to Iran’s position in the region, mutual cooperation should serve as a suitable ground for cooperation in various sectors, including transfer of water technology, exchange of germplasm, raising production productivity, processing, marketing and other technological fieldls.
