The development project of Phases 15 and 16 of Iran’s giant South Pars gas field will become operational next week in the presence of senior Iranian officials, it was announced on Wednesday.
According to the Pars Oil and Gas Company’s (POGC), Phases 15 and 16 of the South Pars gas field will go on stream before the winter begins.
The project of the two phases development aims at increasing Iran’s sweet gas overall production to 50 million cubic meters (mcm) per day.
Divided into 29 development phases, the South Pars gas feild contains 40 trillion cubic meters (tcm) of natural gas. It covers an area of 9,700 square kilometers, 3,700 square kilometers of which are in Iran’s territorial waters in the Persian Gulf.
