The major aim of Ciobo’s Tehran travel is to reopen the country’s trade office in the Iranian capital. The office has been closed since 2010.
Ciobo’s visit to Tehran will be the first of the kind in about 15 years.
‘There are significant trade opportunities as Iran re-engages with the world following the easing of sanctions,’ he has told ABC News.
Iran is a ‘potential source of future economic growth,’ he added.
‘In that respect, we’ve seen the easing of sanctions and it’s really through the easing of those sanctions now that Australia and other countries are looking to Iran, a country of some 80 million people, as a good potential source of future economic growth.’
Ciobo said the country (Iran) was moving in the right direction.
In line with the July 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and the six world powers, which led to lifting of the anti-Iran sanctions on January, 2016, Australia eased sanctions against Iran in early March.
Omani Minister of Commerce and Industry Ali bin Masoud al Sunaidy accompanied by other Iranian and Omani officials attended a ceremony on Sunday held to celebrate launching the maritime route linking Bandar Abbas in southern Iran to the city of Khasab on the shores of Oman.

The Khasab-Bandar Abbas ferry line is going to help enhance all-out ties particularly trade ties between Iran and Oman, Pakzad said.
The route will also encourage the private sector in Oman and Iran to increase their investments in the future.
‘Iranian President (Hassan Rouhani) and Italian Prime Minister (Matteo Renzi) met in New York three days ago which was for the fourth time over past years; during this meeting the two sides underscored the need for doubling the efforts to broaden relations,’ Conciatori said.
‘Iran and Italy have deep familiarization about each other and they have been in contact with each other through Silk Road which can pave the way for development of communications between the two countries,’ he added.
He pointed to the berthing of Italian warship in Bandar Abbas, and said, ‘This presence is a sign of positive development in the two sides’ communications.’

In a meeting with his Danish counterpart, he called for collaboration on renewable energies, promoting water resources quality and recycling waste water.

Meanwhile, in a meeting with the country’s minister of environment and food, Chitchian said that Iran has been facing a worrisome drought for 15 years due to climate change and low rainfall.
He also urged collaboration on reducing consequences of climate change, management of water consumption and promoting efficient irrigation technologies in the agriculture sector.
Chitchian called on Danish companies to cooperate with their Iranian counterparts in promoting water resources quality, and reducing urban water loss.
Head of the Forest, Rangeland and Watershed Management Organization (FRWO) Khodakaram Jalali said in a meeting with the Romanian Minister of Environment and Forests Christiana Pasca Palmer that Iran has 14.2 million hectares of forests, one hectare of which is in Hirkani that is partly exploited.
He further noted that Iran is a climatically diverse country which enjoys 11 of 13 climates across the world and is the fifth country in the world in terms of biodiversity.
Iran boasts of high experience in the field of desert greening in the region and world and has so far conducted eight hectares of desert greening, he said.
Jalali said that herbal medicine is one of clear-cut characteristics of forests and pastures in Iran which enjoys high potentials in the field.
Palmer, for his part, described uncontrolled exploitation of forests and wood smuggling as one of the biggest challenges facing the country’s management of forests, saying that Romania is one of the countries enjoying the most natural forests among the European states.
Romania with 6,900,000 hectares of forests boasts of very rich biodiversity, he said, noting that 50 percent of its forests are run by private sector.
Romani which boasts of diverse herbal medicines can have excellent cooperation with Iran in the field, Romanian minister said.

In a meeting with Governor General of Isfahan province Rasoul Zargar Saturday evenin, Yung Pio Hung who is the chairman of the environment and labor committee of the South Korean National Assembly said growing protection between the two sides could help tackle the province’s environmental problems.
Noting that his country has already achieved very high standards in environmental sciences, he voiced readiness to transfer the experiences and the knowledge Isfahan province needs for dealing with its living environment.
He also called for the establishment of a direct flight between Seoul and Isfahan and urged signing of sisterhood agreements with the Iranian historical city and one of South Korean cities.
The Isfahan Governor General said the implementation of a comprehensive plan of action on air pollution in the province has been of good results.
However, he said, the province has still got much to do in resolving the air pollution problem.

Iran is in need of high tech countries to further develop in the field, Vaezi said.
The Swedish minister, for his part welcomed expansion of mutual cooperation in the field and said the EG is now rendering invaluable services in financial, educational, health and treatment as well as all affairs related to municipalities.
Sweden can easily put all its experiences at the disposal of the Islamic Republic of Iran, he said.
Sweden can also put its technical knowledge and services under EG to applicant companies in Iran, he said.
The international community should be duty bound to transfer such services to other societies and Sweden for its part is ready to fully cooperate with them, he said.
