A memorandum of understanding (MoU) on water resources management was signed by Iran’s Ministry of Energy and South African Energy Ministry in Tehran.

The MoU was signed by Minister of Energy Hamid Chitchian and his counterpart from South Africa Tina Joemat-Pettersson in the presence of the presidents of both countries.
The MoU deals with cooperation in water resources management, water qualification management and water treatment, management of water demand and efficient usage of water, development of water resources infrastructures, industrial equipment, research and renovation in water field and industrial equipment concerning waste water treatment.
President Jacob Zuma arrived in Tehran on Sunday morning at the head of a 180-member politico-economic delegation and during his 2-day stay here eight cooperation documents were signed in the presence of presidents of both countries.

A memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for joint venture investment by Italian Companies of Dynkun and Genesis and Qazvin Governerate General to build 100 solar power plants was signed on Sunday afternoon.

The MoU was signed by representative of Qazvin Governorate General Mohammad Ali Qassemi and Managing Director of Electricity Distribution Company of Qazvin Saeed Chegini and presidents of Italian companies of Dynkun Carmelito Denaro and president of Genesis Company Ali Setayesh.
According to the MoU the two sides undertook to implement projects to build 100 solar power plants with total capacity of 1,000 megawatts and by investment of 1.5 billion dollars.
The projects are to be done during 9 to 10 years.
Chegini told reporters on the sidelines of the signing ceremony that one of the goals for the projects is to generate clean energy without pollution.

South African President Jacob Zuma said on Sunday that South African government is willing to increase annual trade with Iran to eight billion dollars in matter of four years.

He made the remarks in a Conference on Iran-South Africa trade in the venue of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture.
President Zuma said that in year 2015 trade between the two countries stood at 350 million dollars.
He underlined that South Africa is looking at Iran as its strategic partner in the Middle East and Central Asian region.
President Zuma said that Iran has always been one of crude oil suppliers of South Africa, so the sanctions on Iran had negative effects on our economy.
The South African president arrived in Tehran on Sunday morning on the head of 180-member delegation.
This is the first visit of South African President to Iran in the past 37 years.
On Sunday morning, eight cooperation documents were signed between the two countries on economic cooperation.

Swedish Energy Minister Ibrahim Baylan said on Saturday that Swedish companies are keen on investment in Iran’s various energy sectors.

Speaking after a meeting with Iran’s Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zanganeh, Baylan said that representatives of several Swedish companies, having a record of business in Iran, accompany him to Tehran.

South African Energy Minister Tina Joemat-Pettersson said on Saturday that Iran can become the 9th geothermal energy producer.

She made the remarks in a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Hamid Chitchian.
Pettersson welcomed presence of Iranian companies operating in energy generation from his country’s renewable energies.
She said her country is willing to cooperate with Iran in photovoltaic and technology transfer.
‘Our power networks are not stable and we hope Iranian energy ministry will help us provide sustainable energy supplies.’

Iranian Petroleum Minister Bijan Zangeneh said on Saturday that Iran is interested in developing cooperation in different energy fields with Sweden.

He made the remarks in a meeting with Swedish Energy Minister Ibrahim Baylan.
Zangeneh said that Iran and Sweden have record of cooperation in different energy fields so far and the Islamic Republic of Iran is keen on enhanced ties with Sweden.
Referring to the technology ties of Iran with the Swedish companies, he said that ASA and ABB of Sweden are currently active in Iran’s electricity sector.
Zangeneh said that Iran has longstanding cooperation with Sweden to manufacture the required machinery for the oil industry and that termination of the sanctions prepared the ground for the Swedish companies to cooperate with Iranian partners in post-sanctions era.

Iran’s Ambassador to Poland underlined the importance of trade transactions with Iran for Europe as the country acts as a bridge to Asia.

‘Iran being located in the west to east and north to south corridor is a great advantage for the European countries, including Poland, for trade transactions with the Asian countries,’ Ramin Mehmanparast said in a meeting with Polish Marine Economy Minisgtger Mark Grobarchik in Warsaw on Thursday.

The Polish minister, for his part, voiced his country’s readiness to invite Iran’s roads and urban development minister to visit Poland in a bid to start talks on mutual cooperation.

In a relevant development last November, Head of Iran’s Chamber of Commerce Mohsen Jalalpour in a meeting with the visiting Polish delegation led by Economy Minister Janusz Piechocinski said that Iran and Poland planned to establish joint trade commission and firms.

Referring to 1,500 polish companies who are waiting to enter Iran one after another in the near future to bolster ties and guarantee their share in Iran’s market, Jalalpour said that ‘Iran-Poland Joint Economic Commission, which is set to be formed by this yearend, seeks to mount bilateral trade turnover, and ease journeys made by trade delegations between the two countries’.

He also added that founding joint firms, specifically agricultural ones, can set the ground for both sides to have access to European and Middle eastern markets and export the manufactured products to them.

The Iranian official addressed the issue of exporting gas to Poland, and said that Iran seeks to exports gas to the country via the shortest path.

Jalalpour named auto industry, oil and gas, agricultural equipment, and knowledge-based activities as the common fields for cooperation between Tehran and Warsaw.

Piechocinski, leading a high-level trade delegation including railway manufacturers Newag and Pesa, arrived in Tehran on Friday night.

Iranian Ambassador to Seoul underlined the high enthusiasm shown by the South Korean companies in Iran’s market, and called on them to make the optimum use of the suitable atmosphere created after the implementation of the JCPOA.

Hassan Taherian made the remarks in a big gathering of ‘Companies with Superior Capabilities’ in Seoul on Thursday.

‘The present atmosphere is suitable for cooperation with economic entities and industries,’ he said.

‘The South Korean industrialists are highly enthusiastic for presence in Iran’s market,’ Taherian added.

He underlined that the South Korean companies have long track record of presence in Iran’s market and their participation in different projects has been positive.

Trade Opportunities Meeting of Iran with the presence of hundreds of South Korean institutes opened in Seoul on Thursday.

Over 600 merchants and officials in Korea’s industrial sector investigated information regarding Iranian market and its trade opportunities.

The event, which was held with the contribution of Korea International Trade Association (KITA) and some companies, aims at representing information about Iran to Korean merchants and businessmen.

Korean companies and institutes were also given precise information regarding Iranian customs, investment laws, Iran’s domestic law and any essential legal issue.

It was announced by KITA website on Thursday that lifting crippling sanction imposed on Iran opened Iran’s gate toward other countries, adding that South Korean trade activists should take advantage of the opportunities to prepare themselves to enter Iranian market.

The official news agency of South Korea, Yonhap News Agency announced that covering the news related to Iran’s Trade Opportunities Meeting was today’s most important news programs.

Volume of trade between Iran and Korea was about $6.1b in 2015.

Korea’s exports to Iran were around $6.2b in 2012 which was decreased to $3.7b in 2015.

Iran is seeking long term relations with Germany, Minister of Roads and Urban Development Abbas Akhundi said on Wednesday.

In an interview with Stern weekly magazine, he noted that Iran and Europe should propose joint plan for revival of their economic and financial relations and reject US interference.

Iran will pay back its 500 million dollars debt to Germany after release of its assets abroad, Akhundi added.

He urged German banks to coordinate with US officials for revival of ties with Iranian banks, adding that Iran seeks to become a hub for regional transit.

The official said that Iran plans to invest 100 billion US dollars in its infrastructure as a pre-condition fro becoming a hub for the regional transit.

Iran needs 28 billion dollars for modernizing its railway, Akhundi underlined.

German Economy Minister Sigmar Gabriel will pay an official visit to Iran in coming weeks to finalize agreements on a number of joint development projects.

Akhoundi who paid a visit to Germany last week, described his meeting with Gabriel as “very constructive” and said the German economy minister will make a trip to Tehran on May 2 to sign the contracts.

The Iranian minister said he and Gabriel held talks on various projects in such fields as rail transport, construction, aviation and development of Iran’s ports
