The First National Conference & Exhibition of Iranian Solar Energy Society on Renewable Energy will be held in Iran during May 4-5, 2016, Says the head of the Iranian Solar Energy Scientific Society (ISES).

Speaking to Iran Daily, Majid Namjou said his society is the founder of renewable energies in Iran.

“The society was set up 22 years ago. Since then, it has implemented a large number of projects in the field of renewable energies none of which have been complementary to each other or pursued a common goal.”

He, who will also head the conference, added by holding the event, the society mainly aims to compile a roadmap for developing the country’s renewable energy sector.

“We seek to identify all those who are involved in this sector in Iran and assign them a constructive, positive and parallel role in this framework of the roadmap.”

Namjou said by this, the society intends to create synergy among the sector’s players and help them work collaboratively and harmoniously towards making maximum use of the country’s clean and renewable energies.

The roadmap will help orchestrate and organize scattered efforts and sundry measures, he stressed.

“Another goal of the conference is to promote the culture of using renewable energies among Iranians. All Iranian households are required to be able to use solar energy at their place of residence.”

The society’s head noted among the other objectives of the conference is to identify the sector’s strengths, weaknesses and opportunities as well as the threats it is [or will be] faced with.

“We have done our best to have the consultation of academics and all those involved in Iran’s public and private renewable energy sectors.

He listed the conference’s four main axes as making new policies in the sector, encouraging investment in domestic renewable projects, promote the use of renewable energies in industrial and construction sectors and reducing carbon sequestration.

Namjou invited domestic experts and academics to submit the abstract of their articles that are related to the event’s axes, to the secretariat of the conference.

“A scientific committee will select top articles to be presented at the conference. Authors of the chosen articles will be provided with facilities for taking part in the event. In addition, top articles will receive awards at the end of the confab. We expect the articles to help us resolve problems faced by the country’s renewable energy sector and promote the use of these energies.”

He stressed that this conference will mark a beginning for holding other similar events in the coming years. The next edition of the conference, to be held in the year to mid-March 2017, will turn into an international event in which foreign experts and their articles will have greater participation and will be given a more significant role.”

Higher number of domestic firms, involved in the sector, will take part in the next edition of the conference, Namjou said.

“In the light of Iran’s improved condition in the post-sanctions era, we are required to attach greater value to the country’s enormous capacities in the field of renewables, particularly solar energy.”

He said given that Iran enjoys favorable sunshine almost 300 days per annum, each Iranian household can regularly use solar energy at home during the year.
